More aged care COVID-19 deaths this year than in whole of 2020
There have been 711 coronavirus deaths in aged care this year alone, compared with 685 in 2020, hears Senate estimates
More coronavirus deaths have taken place in aged care in the past six weeks than in the whole first year of the pandemic, according to figures reported at Senate estimates.
From 1 January this year until 15 February there were 711 deaths from COVID-19 in aged care facilities, compared to the 685 fatalities throughout the whole of 2020, the committee heard.
