A controversial neurosurgeon who was accused of misogyny for stomping on a poster of a female candidate during last year’s federal election has been ordered by AHPRA to undergo mentoring sessions.

Professor Greg Malham first came under the watchdog’s scrutiny after he was filmed tearing down an election sign of Melbourne MP Dr Monique Ryan.

In the footage, subsequently posted on social media, he was shown stuffing the corflute in a car boot and saying “Go Trump” before trampling the poster underfoot and telling viewers, “Always remember, boys, bury the body under concrete.”

Women’s groups condemned the video, including Respect Victoria chair Professor Kate Fitz-Gibbon, who described the video as not only vandalism but “a chilling display of misogyny and intimidation”.
