New AMA Queensland president says she is not interested in reuniting with federal AMA

Emergency medicine specialist and former pharmacist Associate Professor Erica Gannon was elected this month.

AMA Queensland’s new president stands by her predecessor’s decision to break up with the federal AMA.

The split was originally announced by email in December, with AMA Queensland saying negotiations over how to divide membership fees had broken down.

Associate Professor Erica Gannon has now replaced previous AMA Queensland president Dr Nick Yim.

A emergency medicine specialist and former pharmacist, she was involved in negotiations with the federal AMA as an AMA Queensland director before being elected unopposed as president this month.
