New child-specific vaping cessation guidance for GPs ahead of govt crackdown

Tailored advice for under-18s and young adults who use nicotine vapes will be added to the RACGP’s updated smoking cessation guidelines before the end of the year.
A new vaping cessation module will go live ahead of the Federal Government’s looming crackdown, including a ban on imported single-use and non-therapeutic products to curb soaring rates of use.
The existing smoking cessation module will also include an update on nicotine vaping products, according to Professor Nick Zwar, chair of the college’s expert advisory group on the guidelines.
Professor Zwar told AusDoc that the modules would focus on teenagers and young adults, who would likely form the majority of those seeking support in the coming months.
