New MP’s jibe at GP over hospital fight: ‘You can see why he lost his job’
A GP says he is not seeking an apology from One Nation’s David Farley despite their public clash over a $558 million hospital redevelopment the day before Mr Farley’s by-election victory.
Mr Farley, who won Saturday’s by-election for the expansive rural electorate of Farrer in south-western NSW, had a pointed exchange with Dr Lachlan McKeeman at a public forum with candidates on Friday night, which was being filmed for the Karl Stefanovic Show podcast.
Dr McKeeman is one of multiple doctors who say they lost their jobs at Albury Wodonga Health, on the Victorian-NSW border, because they publicly opposed the $558 million redevelopment of Albury Hospital.
From the audience, Dr McKeeman questioned Mr Farley and other candidates who backed a redevelopment, known as a brownfield project, instead of a brand new hospital — a greenfield project.
