New ‘patient-end support items’ in the March MBS Quick Guide
This March, new MBS items have been added for GPs to provide support to patients during video consultations with a non-GP specialist consultant.
These “patient-end support items” require the GP to be face to face with the patient in the rooms or the patient’s place of residence during the video consultation with the specialist.
The items are time based, following the same time descriptors as regular attendance items lasting six minutes or longer. They can only be claimed if the specialist also bills an eligible video consultation item.
Additional updates for March include newly eligible groups for disability assessments and referrals and amended descriptors and requirements for some health assessment items.
