The RACGP is establishing a scholarship in honour of the late president Dr Harry Nespolon, who died from pancreatic cancer on Sunday.

A fundraising page has been set up to help get the memorial off the ground, with nearly $2000 donated by midday on Friday.

Details of the legacy are yet to be confirmed, but the goal will be to advance general practice in areas that reflect Dr Nespolon’s interests, the college says.

“Some of Dr Nespolon’s achievements included helping to create simpler, stronger and seamless continuing professional development, and ending the Medicare freeze,” the fundraising page states.
