The AMA, the medical profession’s main lobby group, will elect its new president this weekend.

Below, Australian Doctor puts the questions to the three contenders.

What are they going to do to stop pharmacy UTI prescribing? Why are there no female candidates for AMA president? And the future of GP universal bulk-billing.

The three candidates are Associate Professor Gino Pecoraro, a Brisbane obstetrician and gynaecologist; Dr Rod McRae, a Melbourne anaesthetist; and Professor Steve Robson, a Canberra obstetrician and gynaecologist.
