No Christmas cheer looms for GP embroiled in bitter clash with council

It seems there will be no season of goodwill and festive merriment in the town of Norseman this Christmas.

The community has been torn apart in a bitter row over the local council’s attempts to find an alternative to its longstanding GP, Dr Graham Rowlands.

The solo rural GP has been caring for the 700 residents living at the gateway to the Nullarbor for the past 17 years.

But he fell out with Dundas Shire Council when it decided to terminate its deal with him to fund his locum cover, as well as providing him access to a shire-owned house and car.
