No gender experts on puberty blocker review panel, says trans health group
The Queensland review of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormone prescribing has no medical experts in gender-affirming care on its panel, drawing criticism from Australia’s main transgender health body.
The panel, revealed last week, is led by consultant psychiatrist Professor Ruth Vine and includes a child psychiatrist, an endocrinologist, three academics and a former judge.
The Australian Professional Association for Trans Health (AusPATH) questioned why an expert with clinical experience working with children with gender dysphoria was not included.
“A very distinguished body of experts has been pulled together,” AusPATH CEO Eloise Brook told AusDoc.
