GPs won’t get Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine this year, with health officials now saying all supplies arriving in the coming months will be sent to pharmacies instead.

It comes after the TGA granted provisional approval of the mRNA vaccine on Monday for patients aged 18 and older.

The Federal Government has ordered 25 million doses, including 10 million for 2021, which Greg Hunt had said would be allocated among 800 GP practices not currently offering the Pfizer vaccine.

But on Thursday, the federal Department of Health said this was no longer the case and all doses arriving this year will be rolled out through approved pharmacies and through workplace vaccination.
