‘No penalties’ for doctors in bonded scheme contract fiasco: Hunt

Greg Hunt has promised no doctor will be punished for breaching conditions on their bonded medical school place as a result of the scheme’s bungled revamp.
The reformed Bonded Medical Program was launched last year to allow participants to complete their rural work obligations in 12-week stints rather than through a continuous three-year period.
The move was welcomed by doctor groups.
But the Department of Health revealed last month it had provided legally invalid contracts to the doctors who subsequently took up the offer.
