‘Not ethical or trustworthy’: ENT surgeon convinced patients to invest $500,000 in his clinics

Dr Tobias Pincock declared bankruptcy in 2018.

An ENT surgeon who convinced two patients to invest over $500,000 in his business only to use some of the money for his personal use has been found unfit to practise.

Dr Tobias Pincock had originally told the first patient that he was expanding his multi-specialist practices for “rapid growth and sale” within five years.

Suggesting she would see returns of around $5 million, he was alleged to have said that her disabled children would be financially set for life — a claim he denied.

The NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal said because she trusted Dr Pincock, the patient and her husband handed over some $350,000 in 2015, negotiating a third mortgage to pay for the investment.
