NSW pharmacists start prescribing in ‘feasibility’ study as full trial pushed back

The NSW Government has officially launched its pharmacist prescribing trial with a pilot of 100 pharmacies diagnosing and treating UTIs.
Lead researcher Dr Sarah Dineen-Griffin (PhD) joined state Minister for Health Ryan Park for the trial’s launch on Monday, with Mr Park heralding “the first step of reforming the way we deliver healthcare”.
But although 1200 pharmacies lodged expressions of interest, only a small initial group have received the green light as part of a feasibility study.
Dr Dineen-Griffin told AusDoc the full trial protocol was waiting on ethics approval.
