Nurse reprimanded after faking grandfather’s death to secure $1300 refund on airline ticket
The nurse had purchased the ticket for his grandfather to attend his wedding.
A nurse who forged a doctor’s signature to get a plane ticket refund has been reprimanded for professional misconduct.
He had originally purchased a $1300 ticket for his grandfather to attend his wedding in April 2024, the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal heard.
But five months before the wedding, the grandfather had a cardiac event preventing him from flying.
The nurse, who worked at a children’s hospital in Queensland, contacted Qantas for a refund but was told it was non-refundable — unless the passenger had died.
