Ochre Health among winning bidders for $10.5 million govt contract for new bulk-billing GP practices
GP corporate ForHealth has separately been awarded $3.8 million to keep another Canberra practice open.
Two well-known GP chains and a local practice have won a share of the Federal Government’s $10.5 million contract to deliver three new bulk-billing GP clinics in the ACT.
The contract, tendered in September last year, required applicants to commit to bulk-billing for three years, with an intention to maintain universal bulk-billing after the funding ends, to address the ACT’s low GP bulk-billing rate — 51% compared with 78% nationally.
Up to $3.43 million is available for each clinic over three years, the tender document says.
On Friday, Ochre Health, Next Practice and Macquarie General Practice were announced as the successful providers by federal health minister Mark Butler.
