Off-label JAK inhibitors or anti-TNF agents options for refractory generalised granuloma annulare: meta-analysis

The authors recommend hydroxychloroquine and phototherapy as first-line treatments.

Off-label treatments show high remission rates for generalised granuloma annulare, a new meta-analysis shows.

Australia has no formal treatment guidelines for generalised granuloma annulare (GGA), which accounts for 8-15% of granuloma annulare cases, according to the Australasian College of Dermatologists.

But a new meta-analysis has recommended hydroxychloroquine and phototherapy as first-line treatments, particularly psoralen and long-wave UV (PUVA) phototherapy.

Published in the Australasian Journal of Dermatology, the meta-analysis reviewed 689 patients (500 female) aged two months to 89 years from 158 case reports, case series, cross-sectional studies and cohort studies.
