One doc told another to ‘f-off’, hears bullying inquiry

Tiredness can make staff behave badly towards each other, says AMA SA head Dr Chris Moy

AMA SA president Dr Chris Moy has told a parliamentary inquiry into hospital bullying that a doctor told a colleague to ‘f**k off’ when asked to assess a patient.

Dr Moy didn’t hold back with his statement to the Parliamentary Inquiry into Workplace Fatigue and Bullying in SA hospitals and Health Services last Friday.

He started with the “stark” example of a hospital doctor who told a colleague to ‘f**k off’ and then hung up when asked to assess a patient for possible admission to their ward.

In addition to affecting the mental health of the person being bullied, it also rendered doctors “hypocritical” since, as “supposed healers”, they were the ones doing the harm, Dr Moy told the inquiry.
