Only a quarter of pregnant women vaccinated against COVID-19, doctors fear

The proportion of pregnant Australians vaccinated against COVID-19 could be as low as one in four despite them being a high-priority group for protection, doctors say.
Unlike many comparable countries, Australia does not collect official data on COVID-19 vaccination rates for pregnant women.
“It’s pretty shocking because pregnant women are a high-risk cohort,” says Dr Wendy Burton, chair of the RACGP antenatal and postnatal care specific interest group.
“If you don’t know the size of the problem, how are you meant to close the gap?”
