‘Our college is not a parliament’: RACP president promises stability following months of turmoil

College president Professor Jennifer Martin has issued a statement to members in the wake of the vote to retain the president-elect.

After months of turmoil, Dr Sharmila Chandran has survived a final attempt to remove her as the president-elect of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

Following an EGM on Wednesday, where members voted to retain Dr Chandran as the next president, 74% to 26%, current president Professor Jennifer Martin issued a statement to members.

In it, she said the college would abide by the members’ decision and over the coming weeks would work to set out a program to stabilise operations and reinforce governance processes.
