Outrage after psychiatric trainees asked about pregnancy plans

Female doctors-in-training are still being asked by health services whether they plan to get pregnant, in breach of anti-discrimination laws, a Melbourne psychiatrist says.
Dr Jackie Rakov turned to social media to complain that applicants to the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) are still being illegally asked by mental health services about their intention to have children when they apply for jobs.
“How can they think this is good enough?” she wrote in a post on Twitter, adding services that do this should be reported to the AMA Victoria.
“Section 27 of the Sex Discrimination Act specifically states that it is unlawful to ask a woman during a job interview whether she is pregnant or intends to become pregnant if that information is requested in connection with determining whether to offer her employment.”
