Patients can now see their pathology results instantly — but what problem is it trying to solve?
In the latest plan to save My Health Record, patients can now access most pathology test results immediately after they are uploaded — no more seven-day wait.
Patient advocacy groups say patients deserve to have their health information in their own hands, but the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia has concerns about tests being misinterpreted and the AMA is downright opposed.
Significantly, the Federal Government also plans to force pathology companies to upload all results to My Health Record starting in 2026 by taking back Medicare rebates from those that do not.
