Payroll tax: Review GP contracts before joining amnesty, expert says

GP practices seeking payroll tax amnesty should have their eligibility reviewed first or risk rejection and a potential audit, a GP business consultant says.
State governments in SA and Queensland have ruled out retrospective payroll tax audits on GP practices and offered amnesty periods of one and two years, respectively.
To register, practices in both states must provide financial information to state revenue offices, says Brendan Campbell, director of tax and business consultancy firm Prosperity and head of its health unit.
However, he warned GP practices to get financial and legal advice before registering.
