Peanut butter and sleeping standing up: doctors share their night shift stories after hospital tries to ban naps

From sleeping draped over newborn resuscitation trolleys to burrowing under desks, doctors are sharing their stories of sleeping on the job in solidarity with the junior medics recently called out for getting “too cosy” on their night shift.
As reported on Thursday, junior doctors at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital were threatened with an increased workload and “less comfortable chairs”.
In an email, a manager warned they were “not being paid to sleep”.
“It has become painfully obvious that some JMOs feel that the night shifts are not very busy,” they added.
