The TGA has fined celebrity chef Pete Evans more than $25,000 for spruiking a machine that transmits pulsed waves of energy to help his followers fend off coronavirus.

The BioCharger NG, described as looking like a colourful food processor, made headlines earlier this month after Mr Evans posted a video on his Facebook page promoting the “hybrid subtle energy revitalisation platform” to his 1.4 million followers.

In the live-streamed video, posted on 9 April, the My Kitchen Rules host said he used the device “pretty much every day”, adding “it is programmed with a thousand different recipes — there are a couple on there for Wuhan coronavirus”.

The TGA said it had received a number of complaints about the social media post.
