Pharmacists to administer millions of NIP vaccines at $18.85 per shot

Pharmacists will be funded to administer around one million vaccinations a year under the National Immunisation Program (NIP).
The NIP Vaccinations in Pharmacy (NIPVIP) program, launched on 1 January, means pharmacists will be paid $18.85 per jab they administer, from flu to meningococcal ACWY.
The Federal Government will invest $114.1 million over four years to start, with around $31 million a year in funding from 2026-27 onwards.
The Department of Health and Aged Care said it was unable to provide an estimate on how many NIP vaccines were likely to be administered in pharmacies, but the dollar figures suggest it anticipates around 1.6 million pharmacy vaccinations a year.
