Pharmacy baby weighing and BP checks in jeopardy with 60-day dispensing, warns guild

Patients filling scripts will be handed new Pharmacy Guild of Australia graphics warning that pharmacists can no longer offer free delivery or advice as part of the guild’s renewed campaign against 60-day dispensing.
The Federal Government is preparing to let GPs write double-length scripts for around 100 PBS items from September and then expanding the list with hundreds more items before the end of 2024.
The guild’s initial attempt to fight off the changes issued a warning to patients that “400 drugs are on the critical shortage list … Twenty per cent of these will be out of stock now that dispensing limits have been increased by the government.”
But the campaign website, Essential Medicines Website, now redirects to a new site: Save Your Local Pharmacy.
