Pharmacy guild a frontrunner in donations to major political parties

The guild gave over $355,000 to the Labor, Liberal and National parties in reduced offerings from election years.

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia has emerged as a frontrunner in the largest donations to major political parties, placing third in the nation.

It took a podium spot for its $355,780 in donations to the Labor, Liberal and National parties, and ranked as the 13th largest political donor overall for the last financial year.

The sum was well short of its offerings in the election periods of 2018/19 and 2021/22: $773,791 and $577,565, respectively.

But in terms of donations to the government and Opposition, it still ranked third, behind consultancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers — which has since sworn off donations after a scandal — and the company of ‘cardboard king’ Anthony Pratt.
