Pharmacy Guild outguns Big Pharma in political donations

The $300,000 given to the political parties by the guild last year raises the debate on whether the GPs groups should follow suit

Just how deep are the pockets of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia when it comes to the political parties?

This week, the Australian Electoral Commission released its report on political donations, which provides much-needed, if still limited, transparency on a key aspect of the democratic process.

In total, the pharmacy owner’s lobby group donated some $300,000 to the Labor, Liberal and National parties in 2020/21.

Whether this is a lot of money has to be put in context.
