Pharmacy guild president appointed supreme leader of world pharmacy group

The outgoing president dubbed Professor Trent Twomey 'a generational talent'.

Having expanded the reach of pharmacists into diagnosing medical conditions and prescribing S4 drugs, the Pharmacy Guild of Australia president is going global.

Professor Trent Twomey has just been appointed president of the World Pharmacy Council.

It purports to be the “voice of community pharmacy”, representing 13 member organisations based in countries including Germany, the US, the UK and Japan.

Until now, AusDoc had not heard of the council, which was apparently set up in 1987, when it was called Pharmintercom.
