Podiatrists and dietitians poised to give COVID-19 vax

Two states are looking to train up allied health professionals to act as vaccinators to speed up the COVID-19 vaccination rollout.
Under a Victorian Government proposal podiatrists, oral hygienists and dietitians could be delivering vaccines when supplies increase.
Its consultation paper says allied health workers with “transferable skills”, including optometrists and speech pathologists, could be authorised to prepare and administer vaccines under supervision.
The state aims to increase weekly vaccination rates from 200,000 to 500,000 by October.
