Police to auction jailed GP’s former clinic as proceeds of crime

A GP jailed for a $360,000 Medicare fraud will see his former practice auctioned off this week under proceeds-of-crime laws.
Dr Tony Bakare has already begun his four-year sentence, after he was found guilty of submitting thousands of MBS claims for services provided on dates when he was actually overseas.
Dr Bakare had run four practices across the Gold Coast between April 2014 and June 2017.
He bought a fifth property at Oxenford in the city’s north for $595,000 in 2015, setting it up as a medical centre with nine consultation rooms.
