Police release audio detailing how staff dealt with baby of patient in a coma
Frantic staff can be heard desperately trying to save the life of a baby, born unexpectedly to a woman who had been in a coma for years, in audio of an emergency call released by police in the US.
During the call, a woman who identifies herself as a nurse, is screaming, “The baby’s turning blue! The baby’s turning blue!” after the shock delivery of the infant by staff at the US healthcare facility in Phoenix, in Arizona.
The woman had been in a vegetative state for nearly a decade, and staff at the Hacienda HealthCare facility had no idea she was pregnant, when the baby was born on 29 December.
In the audio, as other staff members administered CPR to the baby, the nurse is on the line to the paramedic, in obvious shock at the baby’s arrival.
