Practice abused over GP's anti-contraception stance

The clinic has shut down its social media and issued a statement after flack from the public

A Victorian practice has shut down its social media sites and defended its reputation for women’s health after being hit by a torrent of abuse when one of its GPs stopped offering consults for contraception and IVF.

The social media backlash began after a sign from Torquay Medical Health and Wellness Clinic was posted on social media.

Some called for the practice to lose access to Medicare or for patients to boycott it.

A Facebook post, calling on patients and locals to call the practice to say they no longer support it, was also shared multiple times.

It was condemned by Victorian MPs, including Torquay local Andy Meddick from the Animal Justice Party.
