Professor McGorry accuses MP of using him in election ads without consent

An MP’s election adverts that featured an apparent endorsement by one of Australia’s leading psychiatrists have been pulled after she was accused of selectively using his words without permission.
Dr Fiona Martin (PhD) — the Liberal MP and a registered psychologist — last year chaired a parliamentary inquiry into mental health and suicide prevention.
She later asked Professor Patrick McGorry, who had fronted the inquiry as a witness, for a statement of support.
The professor of youth mental health at Melbourne University wrote back in March this year: “Fiona, I wanted to thank you for your committed and effective advocacy for investment and reform in mental health care.
