Psychiatrists and the NSW Govt meet in court — can this finally end their battle?

Doctors and the NSW Government will stand before the state’s Industrial Relations Commission this week in an attempt to solve their drawn-out dispute over public psychiatrists’ conditions and pay.
Two hundred psychiatrists filed resignations in January after the government rejected their request for a 25% pay rise, forcing wards and outpatient clinics to close.
Government figures show that 38 resignations were rescinded but 62 have since been processed and finalised.Â
A further 72 resigning psychiatrists moved to VMO contracts, although the government told AusDoc that some rescinded resignations may feed into this figure.Â
