Push to force all public hospitals to offer abortions

Public hospitals should be required to provide abortion services under their funding agreements with state governments, a doctor coalition says.
The Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health COVID-19 Coalition argues only a “fraction” of public hospitals are offering medical and surgical abortion care to women.
“Why should they be doing a knee replacement but not an abortion?” its chair Professor Danielle Mazza said.
“Abortion is an essential women’s health service, and it must be recognised as such.”
