A cabinet minister has suggested putting more pressure on doctors to publish their fees on the government’s ‘dust-gathering’ Medical Costs Finder website.

The $24 million site, launched in 2019, was meant to help patients search doctors’ fees plus the average cost of common procedures.

But by June 2024, only 20 doctors had listed their fees.

Apparently the figure is now up to 52, but that is out of a potential 40,000 non-GP specialists.
