Salaried GPs would staff 1000 government clinics under Greens plan

Thousands of GPs would work as government employees under a $54 billion primary care policy that the Greens say they would push on a minority Labor Government.
The plan, announced on Thursday, includes extended the tripled bulk-billing incentives to non-concessional patients as well, 20% higher rebates for level C and level D GP consultations and paying GP registrars the same as hospital trainees.
“With bulk-billing options plummeting across the country and millions of people delaying healthcare due to cost concerns, the Greens have announced an ambitious plan to enable all Australians to go to the GP for free,” a party statement said.
“It is a key policy for the party this election and will be on the table and pushed in any minority Parliament negotiations after the next election.”
