Q&A on coronavirus: what is its pandemic potential?

Professor Mary-Louise McLaws, an epidemiologist in infectious disease control from UNSW Sydney, was appointed to review the 2003 SARS outbreak response by the Beijing Bureau of Health.
She speaks to JOCELYN WRIGHT about the growing threat from SARS-CoV-2, the novel coronavirus that has emerged in China.
So far, 1114 people in China have died from the disease, now named COVID-19, out of the confirmed 45,171 cases to date. A total of 441 cases have been recorded outside China, with one death in the Philippines.
