Quick Guide for Telehealth and COVID-19 MBS items — the August issue

AusDoc’s August telehealth and COVID-19 MBS items Quick Guide is now available.
Included are the changes that came into play with the new financial year. These saw the scrapping of the item for level C phone consults for COVID antiviral assessment, along with exemptions to the established practice rule for telehealth consultations, for patients who have tested positive to COVID in the previous week or who need a PCR referral for diagnosis.
Also on 1 July, telehealth items for blood borne virus and sexual and reproductive health were made permanent. These continue to be exempt from the existing relationship rule, along with mental health items.
