RACGP apologises over CPD fee error

The college says it made a mistake when it suggested all GPs were required to pay its fees to access Medicare

The RACGP has said sorry after emailing thousands of doctors a link to outdated information asking GPs to sign up to its CPD program to access Medicare.

It was included in the college’s September newsletter and opened a page on the college website outlining the requirements for the 2020-22 triennium.

It then led to a section marked ‘Medicare requirements’, which said GPs would be “reported and removed” from Medicare for failing to pay the college’s annual CPD fee which is currently $945.

“All recognised GPs with access to Medicare programs and services are required to pay the annual RACGP fee,” the page had stated.
