A Finnish child and adolescent psychiatrist has accused the RACGP of bowing to activists after it cancelled her webinar on gender-affirming care and replaced it with a panel discussion.

Professor Riittakerttu Kaltiala, who has questioned the widespread use of cross-sex hormones in children, was scheduled to speak today on the topic: “Medical gender reassignment among minors — why are we cautious in Finland?”

However, she says, last week she received an email from the college telling her several members wanted her presentation cancelled.

Because of the pressure, she says the RACGP had decided to redesign the event as a panel discussion on the different Finnish and Australian evidence in the field.
