RACGP exam candidates cry foul over extra $1000 fee

Editor’s note: This story has been updated. We should have made it explicit in the original version that the supplementary exam for any borderline candidates in the RCE was first announced by the RACGP in June.
Hundreds of doctors who took the RACGP’s Remote Clinical Exam last month are being asked to pay $1100 for an additional day of testing after being marked as “borderline” between pass and fail.
Overall, some 1000 candidates sat the one-off clinical role-playing exam in their homes using Zoom.
Each candidate, who paid $4,770 for the assessment, was judged on 12 clinical cases involving simulated patient consults.
