RACGP fumes after doctors’ relationship with nurses likened to domestic violence

The RACGP says a nurse practitioner has “deeply offended” doctors by comparing collaborative prescribing rules to domestic violence.
But nurse practitioner Chris O’Donnell says he was quoted out of context and his criticisms were of government regulation, not doctors.
Mr O’Donnell, who runs a weight loss clinic in Brisbane, was quoted in a News Corp story as saying nurses felt like victims of “battered wife syndrome” in their relationship with doctors.
“A collaborative arrangement (between doctors and nurses) is almost like forced dating,” the quote said.
