GPs with special interests can pay $1350 to have their skills formally recognised by the RACGP.

The college’s “extended skills certificate” will initially cover five special interest areas: dermatology, psychological medicine, addiction medicine, integrative medicine and developmental disability medicine.

The experience, training and education of GPs with special interest areas will be assessed by two or three GPs who have already had their skills recognised.

The GP must be at least five years post-fellowship before they apply and must also provide a portfolio and supporting evidence, including three case studies of their care.
