RACGP rejects mandatory accreditation push after vaccine bungle

The RACGP is rejecting demands for mandatory practice accreditation after an unaccredited GP clinic was found using out-of-date vaccines apparently stored in a domestic fridge.
Immunisation Coalition chair Professor Robert Booy made the call arguing there was a significant public health risk in practices not being subject to routine assessments.
He was speaking last week as NSW health authorities began contacting more than 3,000 patients who may have been administered vaccines at the practice in Sydney dating back to 2010 – the year when it was last accredited.
A public health notice said the practice had failed to follow any of the national vaccine storage guidelines.
