RACGP survey finds happier GPs
The 2026 Health of the Nation report says there have been “notable improvements” in GP sentiment.
The survey of 2766 practising GPs found overall job satisfaction had increased slightly from 71% in 2025 to 76% this year, the highest level since the measure was introduced in 2022.
For the first time, male GPs reported higher job satisfaction than female GPs, with 78% of men satisfied with their work compared with 75% of women, the survey found.
Job satisfaction was highest among GPs working in Indigenous health settings, including Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, with 87% of GPs indicating they are happy with their job.
