RACP crisis: Only three board directors remain ahead of crucial EGM
The Royal Australasian College of Physicians has only three directors on its board as the beleaguered organisation announces a date for an EGM.
It follows yet more resignations in the wake of a vote of no confidence last month in the college’s president-elect, Dr Sharmila Chandran, who was accused of adversarial and disrespectful behaviour and contributing to a toxic board culture.
The Melbourne renal physician, who has rejected the claims, saying they were designed to destroy her, remains on the board along with current president Professor Jennifer Martin and Dr Nick Buckmaster, who has been made interim honorary treasurer.
While a fourth director is apparently expected to be appointed [*], some 30,000 college members across 33 specialties will be able to vote at an EGM on 31 October.
