RACP president-elect breaks with college, warns dysfunction poses ‘great risks to its survival’
It is the second time Dr Sharmila Chandran has emailed members personally to condemn the board.
Tensions at the Royal Australasian College of Physicians have once again exploded.
Its president-elect, Dr Sharmila Chandran, broke from the board last week and emailed the college’s 33,000 members, alleging dysfunction and bullying within the organisation.
She began the email, sent on 11 February, by stating she had “escalating concerns” about the “financial governance, ethical leadership, and organisational culture of the RACP”, which she warned posed “great risks to its survival”.
She raised the departure of board director Vincent So, who resigned as director and treasurer the week before, having been in the position for 133 days.
